Na (न)

Original

नागेंद्रहाराय त्रिलोचनाय भस्मांगरागाय महेश्वराय। नित्याय शुद्धाय दिगंबराय तस्मै 'न' काराय नमः शिवाय॥

Transliteration

Nāgendra hārāya trilocanāya bhasmāṅga rāgāya maheśvarāya | nityāya śuddhāya digambarāya tasmai 'na' kārāya namaḥ śivāya ||

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to the Lord who wears the king of snakes as a garland, who has three eyes, whose body is smeared with sacred ash, the Great Lord; to the eternal, pure, and sky-clad One, salutations to the Shiva represented by the syllable 'Na'.

Ma (म)

मंदाकिनी सलिल चन्दन चर्चिताय नन्दीश्वर प्रमथ नाथ महेश्वराय। मंदारपुष्प बहुपुष्प सुपूजिताय तस्मै 'म' काराय नमः शिवाय॥

Transliteration

Mandākinī salila candana carcitāya nandīśvara pramatha nātha maheśvarāya | mandāra puṣpa bahu puṣpa supūjitāya tasmai 'ma' kārāya namaḥ śivāya ||

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to the Lord who is worshipped with the water of the Mandakini river and sandalwood, the Lord of Nandi and the Ganas; to Him who is worshipped with Mandara and various other flowers, salutations to the Shiva represented by the syllable 'Ma'.

Shi (शि)

शिवाय गौरी वदन अब्जवृन्द सूर्याय दक्षाध्वर नाशकाय। श्री नीलकण्ठाय वृषध्वजाय तस्मै 'शि' काराय नमः शिवाय॥

Transliteration

Śivāya gaurī vadana abja vṛnda sūryāya dakṣādhvara nāśakāya | śrī nīlakaṇṭhāya vṛṣadhvajāya tasmai 'śi' kārāya namaḥ śivāya ||

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to the auspicious One, who is the sun to the lotus-like face of Gauri, the destroyer of Daksha's sacrifice; to the blue-throated Lord who has the bull as His emblem, salutations to the Shiva represented by the syllable 'Shi'.

Va (व)

Original

वशिष्ठ कुम्भोध्वभव गौतम आर्य मुनीन्द्र देव आर्चित शेखरय। विलोचन भूष्यित देवेश्वराय तस्मै 'व' काराय नमः शिवाय॥

Transliteration

Vaśiṣṭha kumbhodbhava gautama ārya munīndra devārcita śekharāya | vilocana bhūṣyita deveśvarāya tasmai 'va' kārāya namaḥ śivāya ||

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to Him who is worshipped by the great sages Vashistha, Agastya, and Gautama, and by the gods; to the Lord of Devas adorned with brilliant eyes, salutations to the Shiva represented by the syllable 'Va'.

Ya (य)

Original

यज्ञस्वरूपाय जतवेदेसे विश्वस्वरूपाय जगत्पतये। तस्मै 'य' काराय नमः शिवाय॥

Transliteration

Yajña swarūpāya jatavedase viśva swarūpāya jagatpataye | tasmai 'ya' kārāya namaḥ śivāya ||

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to the embodiment of sacrifice, the all-knowing, the embodiment of the universe, the Lord of all worlds, salutations to the Shiva represented by the syllable 'Ya'.
