Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya. Narada Puranam adau shri Narayanam namaskritya atha pravakshyami.
अर्थ: Om, salutations to Lord Vasudeva. Having bowed to Lord Narayana at the beginning, I shall now narrate the Narada Purana.
श्रवणं कीर्तनं विष्णोः स्मरणं पादसेवनम् । अर्चनं वन्दनं दास्यं सख्यमात्मनिवेदनम् ॥
Shravanam kirtanam vishnoh smaranam pada-sevanam. Archanam vandanam dasyam sakhyam atma-nivedanam.
अर्थ: Hearing, chanting, remembering, serving the feet, worshipping, offering prayers, servitude, friendship, and complete surrender — these are the nine forms of devotion to Vishnu.
अथातो भक्तिं व्याख्यास्यामः । सा परानुरक्तिरीश्वरे ।
Athato bhaktim vyakhyasyamah. Sa para-anuraktir ishvare.
अर्थ: Now, therefore, we shall explain bhakti. It is supreme love directed toward the Lord.
ॐ नमो नारायणाय ।
Om namo narayanaya.
अर्थ: Om, salutations to Narayana, the Supreme Person who is the shelter of all beings.
Ekadashi vratam kritva yo naro vishnum archayet. Sa yati paramam sthanam vishnoh paramam padam.
अर्थ: One who observes the Ekadashi fast and worships Vishnu attains the supreme abode, the highest position of Vishnu.
वृन्दा वृन्दावनी विश्वपूजिता विश्वपावनी । पुष्पसारा नन्दिनी च तुलसी कृष्णजीवनी ॥
Vrinda Vrindavani vishva-pujita vishva-pavani. Pushpa-sara nandini cha tulasi krishna-jivani.
अर्थ: Vrinda, Vrindavani, worshipped by the world, purifier of the world, essence of flowers, giver of joy, Tulasi, life of Krishna.
नारदं परिपूर्णं च वीणापाणिं सदा हरिम् । भक्तिं ददातु मे देवो नारदो भगवत्प्रियः ॥
Naradam paripurnam cha vina-panim sada harim. Bhaktim dadatu me devo Narado bhagavat-priyah.
अर्थ: May the perfect Narada, ever holding the vina and remembering Hari, the beloved of the Lord, grant me devotion.
नारदपुराणं यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्वा नरोत्तमः । भक्तिं लभते विष्णौ च मोक्षं चाप्नोति नान्यथा ॥
Narada Puranam yah pathec chrinuyad va narottamah. Bhaktim labhate vishnau cha moksham ch apnoti nanyatha.
अर्थ: The best of men who reads or hears the Narada Purana attains devotion to Vishnu and liberation — there is no other way.
