Adhyaya 1: Invocation and Mahatmya

ॐ नमो भगवते अंबिकायै महादेव्यै नमः। स्कन्दपुराणस्य अष्टमखण्डे विद्यते अम्बिकाखण्डः। जगतोऽधारिणी देवीं भजेऽहं सर्वमङ्गलप्रदाम्॥
Transliteration
Om Namo Bhagavate Ambikayai Mahadevyai Namah. Skandapurāṇasya aṣṭamakhaṇḍe vidyate Ambikākhaṇḍaḥ. Jagato'dhāriṇīṃ devīṃ bhaje'haṃ sarvamaṅgalapradām.
Meaning / Translation
Om, salutations to the Divine Goddess Ambika, the Great Goddess. In the eighth section of the Skanda Purana lies the Ambika Khanda. I worship the Goddess who sustains the universe and bestows all auspiciousness.
Adhyaya 1: The Glory of the Text

यथा वेदवदौ हि सर्वं पुराणविशेषतः। अम्बिकाखण्डमर्चनेन मोक्षः प्राप्यते सदा॥
Transliteration
Yathā vedavadau hi sarvaṃ purāṇaviśeṣataḥ. Ambikākhaṇḍamarcanena mokṣaḥ prāpyate sadā.
Meaning / Translation
Just as the Vedas are supreme, so too is this Purana. By the worship and recitation of the Ambika Khanda, one attains liberation (Moksha) eternally.
Adhyaya 1: Description of the Goddess

सिंहासनारूढा च चण्डमुण्डविनाशिनी। सर्वशक्तिमयी देवीं भजामि तं सुरासुन्दराम्॥
Transliteration
Siṃhāsanārūḍhā ca caṇḍamuṇḍavināśinī. Sarvaśaktimayī devīṃ bhajāmi taṃ surāsundarām.
Meaning / Translation
Seated upon her lion, the destroyer of Chanda and Munda; I worship that divine, all-powerful, and most beautiful Goddess.
