परिचय
The Nalateswari temple sits atop a low hill at Nalhati in Birbhum, the town itself named for the 'nala' of Sati believed to have fallen here. The goddess, a form of Kali, is worshipped as Nalateswari, and pilgrims climb the steps to the hillside sanctum for her darshan. It is one of the ring of Shakti Peethas that make Birbhum a heartland of Shakta worship in Bengal, and the temple is especially busy during Navratri and Kali Puja.
