नारायणं नमस्कृत्य नरं चैव नरोत्तमम् । देवीं सरस्वतीं व्यासं ततो जयमुदीरयेत् ॥
Transliteration
Nārāyaṇam namaskṛtya naraṃ caiva narottamam | Devīṃ sarasvatīṃ vyāsaṃ tato jayam udīrayet ||
Meaning / Translation
Having bowed down to Narayana and Nara, the best of men, and to the Goddess Saraswati and Sage Vyasa, then let one recite the Jaya (the Mahabharata).

वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ । निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा ॥
Transliteration
Vakratuṇḍa mahākāya sūryakoṭi samaprabha | Nirvighnaṃ kuru me deva sarvakāryeṣu sarvadā ||
Meaning / Translation
O Lord with the curved trunk and massive body, whose splendor is equal to millions of suns, please make all my endeavors free of obstacles, always.
