Manglik Dosha Calculator

Enter your birth details to check for Mangal (Manglik) Dosha — where Mars sits in your chart from the Lagna, Moon and Venus, and how strong the dosha is.

What Manglik (Mangal) Dosha is

Manglik Dosha, also called Mangal Dosha or Kuja Dosha, occurs when Mars (Mangal) occupies certain houses in a birth chart. When Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house, it is said to create the dosha, which is traditionally associated with tension, delay or friction in marriage. A person with this placement is described as 'Manglik'.

The dosha is not judged from a single point. Classical astrology checks Mars's position counted from three references — the Lagna (ascendant), the Moon and Venus — because each governs a different area of life and marriage. This calculator computes your birth chart and reports Mars's house from all three, so you can see whether and how strongly the dosha is indicated rather than getting a single yes-or-no.

How to read your result

Enter your date, time and place of birth as precisely as you can — the ascendant, and therefore Mars's house from the Lagna, depends on the exact time. The result shows Mars's sign and, in a table, the house Mars occupies from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus, with a Yes or No against each. The verdict is 'Manglik' when the dosha appears from the Lagna or the Moon, and it is graded stronger when it appears from both.

Traditional astrology also lists many conditions that reduce or cancel Mangal Dosha — for example Mars in its own sign or exalted, certain aspects of Jupiter, or the doshas of both partners offsetting each other. Where a common mitigating factor is present, we note it. Treat this as an informational first check: Mangal Dosha is only one part of compatibility, is read differently in different regions, and should be confirmed by matching full charts with a qualified astrologer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be Manglik?

Being Manglik (or having Mangal Dosha) means Mars occupies the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house in your birth chart, counted from the ascendant, Moon or Venus. It is traditionally believed to bring challenges to marriage, though its real effect depends on the whole chart.

How is Manglik Dosha calculated?

The calculator builds your birth chart from your date, time and place of birth, finds the sign and house of Mars, and checks whether that house is one of the dosha houses (1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12) counted from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus. It reports the result from each reference and grades the strength.

Can Manglik Dosha be cancelled?

Yes. Classical texts describe many cancellations (Mangal Dosha bhang) — such as Mars in its own or exalted sign, particular aspects of Jupiter or Saturn, or both partners being Manglik so the doshas offset. This is why a full chart reading matters more than a single label.

Can a Manglik marry a non-Manglik?

Views differ, and this is a matter of tradition and belief. Many families match full horoscopes and consult an astrologer rather than relying on the Manglik label alone, and consider remedies where advised. This tool is only a first, informational check, not a ruling on any marriage.
