Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day (tithi) of each fortnight in the Hindu calendar. It occurs twice a month — once in the waxing (Shukla) and once in the waning (Krishna) paksha — and is traditionally observed as a day of fasting and devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Purnima is the full-moon day of each lunar month. It marks the culmination of the waxing phase and is considered highly auspicious for worship, charity and fasting.
