ਇਕ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ ਸਤਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਸੋਚਾ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਜੇ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਚਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਸੋਚਾ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
Transliteration
Socha na hoee. Je manda achar ho-vai tan bhi socha na ho-ee.
Meaning / Translation
Even if one's conduct is bad, still, the purification of the mind cannot be achieved.

ਕਰਣੀ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗਏ ਮਸਕਤਿ ਘਾਲੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਹੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਹ ਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਸੇ ਛੁਟੇ ॥
Transliteration
Karni nam dhiaaya gaye maskat ghal. Nanak rahu pachhanih se manukh janam maran dukh se chhute.
Meaning / Translation
The effort of (those) who have meditated on the name, has been rewarded. O' Nanak, they have recognized the path, and those men have been saved from the troubles of birth and death.
