Transliteration

Sindurāruṇavigrahāṁ trinayanāṁ maṇikuṇḍalaprabhāśobhitakapolām। Pāśāṅkuśapuṣpabāṇacāpahastāṁ sacāmararamyasaumyaśīlām। Padmāsanā padmakarā padmākṣī padmamukhī padmapadmālayā ca। Namāmi śrīlalitāṁ paramāṁ parātparāṁ pareśīṁ parāmbām॥

Meaning / Translation

I meditate on the Supreme Goddess Lalita, whose body is red like vermilion, who has three eyes, whose cheeks shine with the luster of gem-studded earrings, who holds the noose, goad, flower arrows, and bow in her hands, who is adorned with a beautiful chowrie fan and has a gentle disposition. She is seated on a lotus, has lotus-like hands, lotus-like eyes, a lotus-like face, and resides in a lotus forest. She is the Supreme, beyond the beyond, the Supreme Ruler, the Supreme Mother.

Transliteration

Śrīmātā Śrīmahārājñī Śrīmatsiṁhāsaneśvarī। Cidrūpā Cinānandā Cidākāśavāsinī॥1॥

Meaning / Translation

1. Śrīmātā – The Auspicious Mother. 2. Śrīmahārājñī – The Great Empress. 3. Śrīmatsiṁhāsaneśvarī – The Ruler of the Lion-Throne (or the Throne of the Supreme). 4. Cidrūpā – Of the Form of Pure Consciousness. 5. Cinānandā – Of the Nature of Consciousness-Bliss. 6. Cidākāśavāsinī – Residing in the Sky of Consciousness.

Transliteration

Etat sahasranāmnāṁ puṁsā duṣkṛtanāśanam। Paṭhanātsarvasampattiḥ syāddevyāḥ prasādataḥ॥ Aśvamedhasahasrāṇi vājapayaśatāni ca। Koṭikanyāpradānaṁ ca yatphalaṁ labhyate tatphalam॥ Lalitāsahasranāmnāṁ paṭhanāttu labhyate phalam। Nātra kāryā vicāraṇā Śrīlalitāparāyaṇā bhavet॥

Meaning / Translation

Recitation of these thousand names destroys all sins of men. By recitation, all wealth and prosperity are attained through the Goddess's grace. The fruit obtained by performing a thousand Ashvamedha sacrifices, a hundred Vajapeya sacrifices, and giving away ten million maidens in marriage — that same fruit is obtained by reciting the Lalita Sahasranama. There is no doubt about this. One should become devoted to the recitation of Śrī Lalita.
