ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय नमः शिवाय च नमो नमः । चतुर्दश लोकनाथाय ब्रह्मणे परमात्मने ॥

Transliteration

Om namo bhagavate vāsudevāya namaḥ śivāya ca namo namaḥ । caturdaśa loka-nāthāya brahmaṇe paramātmane ॥

Meaning / Translation

Om. Salutations to Lord Vāsudeva (Vishnu), and again and again to Lord Shiva. To the Lord of the Fourteen Worlds, the Supreme Self, Brahman, I offer my obeisance.

Verse 1: Bhūloka (Earth Plane)

भूलोके मानुषे लोके कर्मभूमिर्महेश्वरी । विष्णुं यज्ञपुरुषं ध्यायेत् शिवं लिङ्गात्मनं हरम् ॥ १ ॥

Transliteration

bhūloke mānuṣe loke karmabhūrmahēśvarī । viṣṇuṃ yajñapuruṣaṃ dhyāyet śivaṃ liṅgātmanaṃ haram ॥ 1 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Bhūloka, the human realm, the great field of karma, meditate on Vishnu as the Person of Sacrifice (Yajña-Puruṣa) and on Shiva as the Soul of the Linga, the Remover of sins.

Verse 2: Bhuvarloka (Atmospheric Plane)

भुर्वर्लोके पितृलोकेऽन्तरिक्षे चरन्ति ये । वायुरूपी हरिं देवम् शिवं सोममयं स्मरेत् ॥ २ ॥

Transliteration

bhuvarloke pitṛloke'ntarikṣe caranti ye । vāyurūpī hariṃ devaṃ śivaṃ somamayaṃ smaret ॥ 2 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Bhuvarloka, the realm of ancestors and atmosphere, where beings move, remember Hari as the Wind-God (Vāyu-rūpī) and Shiva as the embodiment of Soma (the sacred nectar).

Verse 3: Svarloka (Svarga / Heavenly Plane)

स्वर्लोके सुरलोकेऽत्र इन्द्राद्याः सुखभाजनाः । विष्णुं पद्मनाभं देवं शिवं गङ्गाधरं भजे ॥ ३ ॥

Transliteration

svarloke suraloke'tra indrādyāḥ sukhabhājanāḥ । viṣṇuṃ padmanābhaṃ devaṃ śivaṃ gaṅgādharaṃ bhaje ॥ 3 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Svarloka, the heavenly realm of Indra and gods who enjoy bliss, worship Vishnu as Padmanābha (Lotus-Naveled) and Shiva as Gaṅgādhara (Bearer of Ganga).

Verse 4: Maharloka (Plane of Great Sages)

महर्लोके मुनिलोके तपः सिद्धयुतो जनाः । विष्णुं योगेश्वरं ध्यायेत् शिवं योगेश्वरं परम् ॥ ४ ॥

Transliteration

maharloke muniloke tapaḥ siddhayuto janāḥ । viṣṇuṃ yogeśvaraṃ dhyāyet śivaṃ yogeśvaraṃ param ॥ 4 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Maharloka, the realm of sages perfected by austerity, meditate on Vishnu as Yogeśvara (Lord of Yoga) and on Shiva as the Supreme Yogeśvara.

Verse 5: Janaloka (Plane of Progenitors / Kumaras)

जनलोके सनकादीनां ब्रह्मविद्या प्रवर्तते । विष्णुं हंसगतिं विद्धि शिवं ज्ञानगतिं परम् ॥ ५ ॥

Transliteration

janaloke sanakādīnāṃ brahmavidyā pravartate । viṣṇuṃ haṃsagatiṃ viddhi śivaṃ jñānagatiṃ param ॥ 5 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Janaloka, where the Kumāras (Sanaka, etc.) propagate Brahma-Vidyā, know Vishnu as the Goal of the Haṃsa (Paramahaṃsa) and Shiva as the Supreme Goal of Knowledge.

Verse 6: Tapoloka (Plane of Austerity / Vairajas)

तपोलोके वैराजानां तपो मूर्तिः सनातनः । विष्णुं तपोनिधिं देवम् शिवं तपस्स्वरूपिणम् ॥ ६ ॥

Transliteration

tapaloke vairājānāṃ tapo mūrtiḥ sanātanaḥ । viṣṇuṃ tapo-nidhiṃ devaṃ śivaṃ tapas-svarūpiṇam ॥ 6 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Tapoloka, abode of the Vairājas, where austerity is eternal form, worship Vishnu as the Treasure of Tapas and Shiva as the very Embodiment of Austerity.

Verse 7: Satyaloka / Brahmaloka (Plane of Truth / Brahma)

सत्यलोके ब्रह्मलोके सत्यधर्मपरायणाः । विष्णुं सत्यपरं ब्रह्म शिवं सत्यस्वरूपिणम् ॥ ७ ॥

Transliteration

satyaloke brahmaloke satyadharmaparāyaṇāḥ । viṣṇuṃ satyaparaṃ brahma śivaṃ satyasvarūpiṇam ॥ 7 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Satyaloka (Brahmaloka), where beings are devoted to Truth and Dharma, realize Vishnu as the Supreme Truth (Brahman) and Shiva as the very Form of Truth.

Verse 8: Atala (First Lower Plane)

अतले भोगभूमौ तु भैरवं रूपमाश्रिताः । विष्णुं क्षेत्रज्ञमेवाहुं शिवं क्षेत्रेश्वरं भजे ॥ ८ ॥

Transliteration

atale bhogabhūmau tu bhairavaṃ rūpamāśritāḥ । viṣṇuṃ kṣetrajñam evāhuṃ śivaṃ kṣetreśvaraṃ bhaje ॥ 8 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Atala, the realm of enjoyment where Bhairava forms reside, know Vishnu as the Knower of the Field (Kṣetrajña) and worship Shiva as the Lord of the Field (Kṣetreśvara).

Verse 9: Vitala (Second Lower Plane)

वितले हाटकेशस्य माया मोहविवर्जिता । विष्णुं मायापतिं विद्धि शिवं मायाविनाशनम् ॥ ९ ॥

Transliteration

vitale hāṭakeśasya māyā mohavivarjitā । viṣṇuṃ māyāpatiṃ viddhi śivaṃ māyāvināśanam ॥ 9 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Vitala, realm of Hāṭakeśa where illusion is free from delusion, recognize Vishnu as the Lord of Māyā and Shiva as the Destroyer of Māyā.

Verse 10: Sutala (Third Lower Plane / Bali's Realm)

सुतले बलिराजस्य भक्तिरूपेण वर्तते । विष्णुं वामनरूपं ध्यायेत् शिवं भक्तवत्सलम् ॥ १० ॥

Transliteration

sutale bali-rājasya bhaktirūpeṇa vartate । viṣṇuṃ vāmanarūpaṃ dhyāyet śivaṃ bhaktavatsalam ॥ 10 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Sutala, where King Bali reigns in devotion, meditate on Vishnu as Vāmana (the Dwarf Incarnation) and on Shiva as the Lover of Devotees.

Verse 11: Talātala (Fourth Lower Plane / Maya's Realm)

तलातले मयदानवस्य शिल्पकौशलमूर्तिमत् । विष्णुं विश्वकर्माणं च शिवं शिल्पीश्वरं परम् ॥ ११ ॥

Transliteration

talātale mayadānavasya śilpakauśalamūrtimat । viṣṇuṃ viśvakarmāṇaṃ ca śivaṃ śilpīśvaraṃ param ॥ 11 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Talātala, where Maya Dānava displays architectural mastery, worship Vishnu as Viśvakarmā (Cosmic Architect) and Shiva as the Supreme Lord of Arts.

Verse 12: Mahātala (Fifth Lower Plane / Nagas)

महातले नागलोके च शेषशायी हरिः स्मृतः । विष्णुं अनन्तशयनं च शिवं नागेन्द्रभूषणम् ॥ १२ ॥

Transliteration

mahātale nāgaloke ca śeṣaśāyī hariḥ smṛtaḥ । viṣṇuṃ anantaśayanaṃ ca śivaṃ nāgendra-bhūṣaṇam ॥ 12 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Mahātala, the Nāga realm, Hari is remembered as reclining on Śeṣa; worship Vishnu as Anantaśayana and Shiva as adorned with the King of Serpents.

Verse 13: Rasātala (Sixth Lower Plane / Daityas/Dānavas)

रसातले दैत्यदानवानां बलं तेजश्च वर्तते । विष्णुं बलपराक्रान्तं शिवं तेजः स्वरूपिणम् ॥ १३ ॥

Transliteration

rasātale daityadānavānāṃ balaṃ tejaśca vartate । viṣṇuṃ balaparākrāntaṃ śivaṃ tejaḥ svarūpiṇam ॥ 13 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Rasātala, where Daityas and Dānavas wield strength and splendor, see Vishnu as the Conqueror of Might and Shiva as the very Form of Radiant Power.

Verse 14: Pātāla (Seventh Lower Plane / Vasuki's Realm)

पाताले वासुकेः क्षेत्रे शेषनागः सदा स्थितः । विष्णुं पातालनाथं च शिवं पातालनाशनम् ॥ १४ ॥

Transliteration

pātāle vāsukeḥ kṣetre śeṣanāgaḥ sadā sthitaḥ । viṣṇuṃ pātālanāthaṃ ca śivaṃ pātālanāśanam ॥ 14 ॥

Meaning / Translation

In Pātāla, Vāsuki's domain, where Śeṣa Nāga ever resides, worship Vishnu as Lord of Pātāla and Shiva as the Destroyer of the Netherworlds (liberator from lower births).

एतत् चतुर्दश लोकानां यात्रा स्तोत्रं पठेन्नरः । विष्णुलोकं शिवलोकं च प्राप्त्वा मोक्षमवाप्नुयात् ॥ इति श्रीचतुर्दशलोकयात्रास्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ।

Transliteration

etat caturdaśa lokānāṃ yātrā stotraṃ paṭhennaraḥ । viṣṇulokaṃ śivalokaṃ ca prāptvā mokṣamavāpnuyāt ॥ iti śrīcaturdaśalokayātrāstotraṃ sampūrṇam ।

Meaning / Translation

Whoever recites this Stotra of the Journey through the Fourteen Worlds, attaining the realms of Vishnu and Shiva, achieves Liberation. Thus ends the complete Chaturdasha Loka Yatra Stotram.
