Original
Transliteration
Ekam Brahma visheshanaat anekam, sarvavyapi sarveshwaram. Satyam jnanam anantam advaitam, na tatra suryo na chandramah.
Meaning / Translation
One Brahman, appearing as many through differentiation, is all-pervading and the Lord of all. It is Truth, Knowledge, Infinite, and Non-dual; neither the sun nor the moon shines there (for it is the source of all light).
The Concept of Atman (The Self)
Original
Transliteration
Na jayate mariyate va vipashchit, atma nityah sarvavyapi. Shariram nashvaram mohamaya-yuktam, atma tu shuddham brahma swaroopam.
Meaning / Translation
The wise know that the Soul is neither born nor dies; the Self is eternal and all-pervading. While the body is perishable and bound by illusion (Maya), the Soul is pure and of the nature of Brahman.
Dharma and Karma (Order and Action)
Original
Transliteration
Dharmo rakshati rakshitah, karmana phalam labhate. Satkarma pradhanam jivanam, dharmo hi parama satyam.
Meaning / Translation
Dharma protects those who protect it; one receives the fruits of their actions (Karma). Righteous action is the essence of life, for Dharma is the ultimate truth.
Moksha (Liberation)
Original
Transliteration
Maya vivartini jagat, mokshah parama lakshyam. Jivanmuktihi parama padam, brahma-sakshatkarah parama sukham.
Meaning / Translation
The world is an illusion transformed by Maya; Liberation (Moksha) is the ultimate goal. To be liberated while living (Jivanmukti) is the highest state, and the realization of Brahman is the supreme bliss.
