दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम् । नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम् ॥
Transliteration
Dadhiśaṅkha-tuṣārābhaṁ kṣīrodārṇava-sambhavam | Namāmi śaśinaṁ somaṁ śambhor-mukuṭa-bhūṣaṇam ||
Meaning / Translation
I bow to the Moon (Shashin), who is white like curd, conch, and frost, born from the Ocean of Milk, and who adorns the crown of Lord Shiva (Shambhu).

नमस्ते चन्द्रदेवाय सोमाय शशिभूषणाय । नमस्ते रोहिणीपतये नमस्ते क्षयवृद्धिदाय ॥
Transliteration
Namaste candradevāya somāya śaśibhūṣaṇāya | Namaste rohiṇīpataye namaste kṣaya-vṛddhi-dāya ||
Meaning / Translation
Salutations to the Moon God, to Soma, to the one who wears the hare (mark on the moon). Salutations to the lord of Rohini nakshatra, salutations to the giver of waning and waxing (the lunar phases).

शुभ्रांशुं शशिकान्तारं शीतांशुं शीतलप्रदम् । भक्तानां दुःखहन्तारं प्रणमामि सदा शिवम् ॥
Transliteration
Śubhrāṁśuṁ śaśikāntāraṁ śītāṁśuṁ śītalapradam | Bhaktānāṁ duḥkhahantāraṁ praṇamāmi sadā śivam ||
Meaning / Translation
I always bow to the auspicious-rayed, beloved of the moon (or beautiful as the moon), cool-rayed, bestower of coolness, remover of devotees' sorrows, the ever-auspicious one.

क्षपाकरं क्षयवृद्धिकर्तारं कलानिधिम् । निशाकरं नमामि देवं चन्द्रं सर्वसुखप्रदम् ॥
Transliteration
Kṣapākaraṁ kṣaya-vṛddhikartāraṁ kalānidhim | Niśākaraṁ namāmi devaṁ candraṁ sarvasukhapradam ||
Meaning / Translation
I bow to the deity Moon (Kshapakara), the maker of waning and waxing, the treasure of digits (kalas), the maker of the night, the giver of all happiness.

एतत् चन्द्रस्तवं पुण्यं यः पठेच्छृणुयादपि । सोऽश्वमेधफलं प्राप्य चन्द्रलोकं स गच्छति ॥
Transliteration
Etat candrastavaṁ puṇyaṁ yaḥ paṭhecchṛṇuyādapi | So'śvamedhaphalaṁ prāpya candralokaṁ sa gacchati ||
Meaning / Translation
Whoever recites or hears this auspicious hymn to the Moon attains the fruit of an Ashvamedha sacrifice and reaches the realm of the Moon (Chandraloka).
