Mangalacharan - Verse 1 (Ganesha Invocation)

वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ। निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा॥

Transliteration

Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha. Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarvakaryeshu Sarvada॥

Meaning / Translation

O Lord Ganesha, with curved trunk and massive form, whose brilliance equals a million suns. Please remove all obstacles from all my endeavors, always.

Mangalacharan - Verse 2 (Guru & Deity Invocation)

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णु गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः। गुरुः साक्षात् परब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः॥

Transliteration

Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwarah. Guruh Sakshat Parabrahma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah॥

Meaning / Translation

The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is Lord Shiva (Maheshwara). The Guru is the Supreme Brahman itself. Salutations to that revered Guru.

Muhurat Shloka - Verse 3 (Auspicious Time Prayer from Muhurta Chintamani/Jyotish Tradition)

श्रीगणेशाय नमः। श्रीगुरुभ्यो नमः। अथ शुभमुहूर्तसिद्धये प्रार्थना: कालः सर्वेषु कर्मसु कारणं परमं मतम्। शुभकालेऽपि यत्कर्म कुर्यात्सिद्धिं लभेद् ध्रुवम्॥

Transliteration

Shri Ganeshaya Namah. Shri Gurubhyo Namah. Atha Shubha Muhurta Siddhaye Prarthana: Kalah Sarveshu Karmasu Karanam Param Matam. Shubha Kale'pi Yat Karma Kuryat Siddhim Labhed Dhruvam॥

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to Lord Ganesha and the Gurus. Now, prayer for success in the auspicious moment: Time is considered the supreme cause in all actions. Even in an auspicious time, if one performs the action, one surely attains success.

Muhurat Shloka - Verse 4 (Panchanga Shuddhi Prayer)

तिथौ वारे नक्षत्रे च योगे करणमेव च। शुभे सर्वेऽपि संयुक्ते कार्यसिद्धिर्भविष्यति॥

Transliteration

Tithau Vare Nakshatre Cha Yoge Karanam Eva Cha. Shubhe Sarve'pi Samyukte Karya Siddhir Bhavishyati॥

Meaning / Translation

When the Tithi (lunar day), Vara (weekday), Nakshatra (constellation), Yoga, and Karana — all five limbs of the Panchanga — are auspicious and conjoined, success of the undertaking is assured.

Muhurat Shloka - Verse 5 (Lagna Shuddhi - Ascendant Purity)

लग्नं शुद्धं भवेद् यत्र न चन्द्राष्टमं न च। न चाष्टमं गुरुं शुक्रं न च राहुकेतवः॥ तत्र कार्यं समारभ्य सिद्धिं लभेत न संशयः।

Transliteration

Lagnam Shuddham Bhavet Yatra Na Chandrashtamam Na Cha. Na Chashtamam Gurum Shukram Na Cha Rahu Ketavah॥ Tatra Karyam Samarabhya Siddhim Labheta Na Samshayah॥

Meaning / Translation

Where the Lagna (ascendant) is pure — Moon not in the 8th house, Jupiter and Venus not in the 8th, Rahu and Ketu not afflicting — if the work is commenced there, success is attained without doubt.

Closing Prayer - Verse 6 (Sarva Mangala)

सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः। सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद् दुःखभाग् भवेत्॥ ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः॥

Transliteration

Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah Sarve Santu Niramayah. Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu Ma Kashchid Dukha Bhag Bhavet. Om Shantih Shantih Shantih॥

Meaning / Translation

May all be happy, may all be free from illness. May all see auspiciousness, may none suffer. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
