Guru Vandana (Salutation to the Guru)

गुरु चरणों में अर्पित है जीवन, ज्ञान का सागर, भक्ति का संगम। गुरु ही ब्रह्मा, गुरु ही विष्णु, गुरु ही शिव का पावन रूप।

Transliteration

Guru charnon mein arpit hai jeevan, gyaan ka saagar, bhakti ka sangam. Guru hi Brahma, Guru hi Vishnu, Guru hi Shiva ka paavan roop.

Meaning / Translation

Life is offered at the feet of the Guru, the ocean of wisdom and the confluence of devotion. The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, and the Guru is the sacred form of Shiva.

Transliteration

Hey Parameshwar! Tum hi Shiva, tum hi Narayana, tum hi Shakti, tum hi Kalyan. Kan-kan mein tera vaas hai, har hriday mein tera prakash hai.

Meaning / Translation

O Supreme Lord! You are Shiva, You are Narayana, You are Shakti, and You are the ultimate auspiciousness. You reside in every atom, and Your light shines in every heart.

एक ही ज्योति, एक ही प्राण, एक ही सत्य, एक ही ज्ञान। विविध रूप हैं, पर तत्व एक है, आत्मा और परमात्मा का मेल एक है।

Transliteration

Ek hi jyoti, ek hi praan, ek hi satya, ek hi gyaan. Vividh roop hain, par tattva ek hai, Atma aur Paramatma ka mel ek hai.

Meaning / Translation

There is but one light, one life-force, one truth, and one wisdom. Forms are diverse, but the essence is one; the union of the individual soul and the Supreme Soul is one.

Sarve bhavantu sukhinah, sarve santu niramayah. Sarve bhadrani pashyantu, ma kashcid-duhkha-bhag-bhavet.

May all be happy, may all be free from illness. May all see what is auspicious, may no one suffer from sorrow.
