Stanza 1: The Journey of the Basket

कांच ही बांस के बहंगिया, बहंगी लचकत जाए। बात जे पूछेला बटोहिया, बहंगी केकरा के जाए? बहंगी छठी मईया के जाए।
Transliteration
Kaanch hi baans ke bahangiya, bahangi lachkat jaaye. Baat je pooche la batohiya, bahangi kekra ke jaaye? Bahangi Chhathi Maiya ke jaaye.
Meaning / Translation
The bamboo basket is so delicate that it sways as it is carried. A passerby asks, 'To whom is this basket being carried?' The basket is being carried for the worship of Mother Chhathi.
Stanza 2: The Sacred Offerings

केरा के बहंगिया, लचकत जाए। कोशी के भरल बा, बहंगी घाट के जाए। छठी मईया के बरतिया, बहंगी घाट के जाए।
Transliteration
Kera ke bahangiya, lachkat jaaye. Koshi ke bharal ba, bahangi ghaat ke jaaye. Chhathi Maiya ke baratiya, bahangi ghaat ke jaaye.
Meaning / Translation
The basket laden with bananas is swaying. It is filled with sacred offerings (Koshi) and is being taken to the riverbank. It is destined for the holy ritual of Chhathi Maiya at the river ghat.
Stanza 3: Invocation to the Sun God

उगा हो सुरुज देव, अरघ के बेर भइल। अरघ के बेर भइल, छठी मईया के अरघ देवे के बेर भइल। सुरुज देव भइल अरघ के बेर।
Transliteration
Uga ho suruj dev, argh ke ber bhail. Argh ke ber bhail, Chhathi Maiya ke argh deve ke ber bhail. Suruj dev bhail argh ke ber.
Meaning / Translation
O Sun God, please rise! The time for the holy offering (Arghya) has arrived. The time has come to offer the water and milk to Chhathi Maiya. The time for the Sun God's offering is here.
Stanza 4: Prayer for Blessings

कांच ही बांस के बहंगिया, बहंगी लचकत जाए। सब के आशीष दे दीं, छठी मईया के अरघ देवे के बेर भइल।
Transliteration
Kaanch hi baans ke bahangiya, bahangi lachkat jaaye. Sab ke aashish de deen, Chhathi Maiya ke argh deve ke ber bhail.
Meaning / Translation
The bamboo basket continues its swaying journey. O Mother, please bestow your blessings upon everyone; the time to offer prayers to Chhathi Maiya is here.
