शुचौ देशे प्रतिष्ठाप्य स्थिरमासनमात्मनः। नात्युच्छ्रितं नातिनीचं चैलाजिनकुशोत्तरम्॥ तत्रैकाग्रं मनः कृत्वा यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः। उपविश्यासने युञ्ज्याद्योगमात्मविशुद्धये॥
Transliteration
śucau deśe pratiṣṭhāpya sthiram-āsanam-ātmanaḥ | nātyucchritaṁ nātinīcaṁ cailājina-kuśottaram || tatraikāgraṁ manaḥ kṛtvā yata-cittendriya-kriyaḥ | upaviśyāsane yuñjyād-yogam-ātma-viśuddhaye ||
Meaning / Translation
Establishing a firm and comfortable seat in a clean and peaceful spot, neither too high nor too low. Sitting there with a focused mind, bringing senses and mental activities to quiet stillness, one should practice meditation for the purification of the self.

प्राणापानौ समौ कृत्वा नासाभ्यन्तरचारिणौ। यतेन्द्रियमनोबुद्धिर्मुनिर्मोक्षपरायणः॥ विगतेच्छाभयक्रोधो यः सदा मुक्त एव सः।
Transliteration
prāṇāpānau samau kṛtvā nāsābhyantara-cāriṇau | yatendriya-mano-buddhir-munir-mokṣa-parāyaṇaḥ || vigatecchā-bhaya-krodho yaḥ sadā mukta eva saḥ ||
Meaning / Translation
Equalizing the inward and outward breaths moving through the nostrils; keeping the senses, mind, and intellect calm and attuned to awareness; freed from craving, fear, and anger—one rests in genuine freedom and mindfulness.
साक्षी भाव (Witnessing Awareness)

मन एव मनुष्याणां कारणं बन्धमोक्षयोः। बन्धाय विषयासक्तं मुक्त्यै निर्विषयं स्मृतम्॥ साक्षी चेता केवलो निर्गुणश्च।
Transliteration
mana eva manuṣyāṇāṁ kāraṇaṁ bandha-mokṣayoḥ | bandhāya viṣayāsaktaṁ muktyai nirviṣayaṁ smṛtam || sākṣī cetā kevalo nirguṇaśca ||
Meaning / Translation
The mind alone is the cause of bondage and liberation. Attached to wandering thoughts, it brings bondage; free from clinging, it leads to stillness. Be the pure witness (Sakshi)—conscious, solitary, and beyond temporary mental modifications.

यदा पञ्चावतिष्ठन्ते ज्ञानानि मनसा सह। बुद्धिश्च न विचेष्टते तामाहुः परमां गतिम्॥ तां योगमिति मन्यन्ते स्थिरामिन्द्रियधारणाम्।
Transliteration
yadā pañcāvatiṣṭhante jñānāni manasā saha | buddhiśca na viceṣṭate tāmāhuḥ paramāṁ gatim || tāṁ yogamiti manyante sthirām-indriya-dhāraṇām ||
Meaning / Translation
When the five senses rest in stillness along with the wandering mind, and the intellect ceases restless striving, that state is known as the highest path. This steady mastery of mindful awareness is called Yoga.

ॐ द्यौः शान्तिरन्तरिक्षं शान्तिः पृथिवी शान्तिरापः शान्तिरोषधयः शान्तिः। वनस्पतयः शान्तिर्विश्वेदेवाः शान्तिर्ब्रह्म शान्तिः सर्वं शान्तिः शान्तिरेव शान्तिः सा मा शान्तिरेधि॥ ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः॥

oṁ dyauḥ śāntir-antarikṣaṁ śāntiḥ pṛthivī śāntir-āpaḥ śāntir-oṣadhayaḥ śāntiḥ | vanaspatayaḥ śāntir-viśvedevāḥ śāntir-brahma śāntiḥ sarvaṁ śāntir-śāntireva śāntiḥ sā mā śāntir-edhi || oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ||
Meaning / Translation
May peace radiate across the celestial realms, the skies, the earth, the waters, and all plant life. May peace pervade all cosmic powers and all existence. May that boundless peace dwell within me. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
