Original

श्रीगणेशाय नमः । श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः ।

Transliteration

Shree Ganeshaay namah. Shree guruBhyo namah.

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to Lord Ganesha. Salutations to the Guru.

Verse 2

Original

वेदोऽखिलो धीमहि यत्पुनामभवात् । यत्प्रत्यभिज्ञा देहभाजोऽलभन्ते ।

Transliteration

Vedo akhilo dhiimahi yatpunamabhavat. Yatpratyabhigna dehabhajo labhante.

Meaning / Translation

We meditate on the Vedas, which are the source of all knowledge and which are the means to attain the ultimate goal. Those who have realized their true self, attain the ultimate goal.

सरस्वति नमस्तुभ्यं वरदे कामरूपिणि । विद्यारम्भं करिष्यामि सिद्धिर्भवतु मे सदा ॥

Transliteration

Sarasvati namastubhyam varade kamrupini. Vidhyarambham karishyami siddhirbhavatu me sada.

Meaning / Translation

Salutations to Goddess Saraswati, who is the giver of boons and who can take any form. I am starting my education, may I always be successful.

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः । गुरुरेव परब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥

Transliteration

Gururbrahma gururvishnuh gururdevo maheshvarah. Gurureva parabrahma tasmai shreegurave namah.

Meaning / Translation

The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is Shiva. The Guru is the ultimate reality, salutations to that Guru.
