Verse 1

वास्तुपुरुषस्तोत्रम् । वास्तुपुरुष प्रसादस्य, ब्रह्मणा प्रोक्तम् ।
Transliteration
Vaastupurushastotram. Vaastupurusha prasaadasya, Brahmnaa proktam.

Hymn to the Vaastu Purusha, as declared by Brahma, for his blessings.

ब्रह्मा प्रोक्तं पुनर्भव, ज्ञानिनां येन सिद्ध्यति । वास्तुपुरुषस्तोत्रेण, प्रसन्नो भवति ।
Transliteration
Brahmaa proktam punarbhava, gyaaninaam yena siddyati. Vaastupurushastotrena, prasanno bhavati.
Meaning / Translation
Brahma has declared that through this Vaastu Purusha hymn, even the knowledgeable achieve perfection and He becomes pleased.

पूर्वदिक्पाति पातालम्, आग्नेय्यं याम्ये नैऋती । वायव्यश्चान्द्रिका वायुर्, उत्तरस्यांश्च ब्रह्मा ।
Transliteration
Poorvadikpaati paatalam, Aagneyyam Yaamye Nairrtee. Vaayavyashchaandrika vaayur, Uttarasyaamcha Brahmaa.
Meaning / Translation
The guardian of the east is Indra, of the southeast is Agni, of the south is Yama, of the southwest is Nirrti, of the west is Varuna, of the northwest is Vayu, of the north is Kubera, and of the northeast is Ishana.

अग्निर्दिक्पाति पातालम्, याम्यं यामुनिषेवितम् । नैऋतीं राक्षसाश्चैव, पिशाचा वायुसेविताम् ।
Transliteration
Agnirdikpaati paatalam, Yaamyam Yaamunishsevitam. Nairrteem Raakshasaashchaiva, Pishaacha Vaayusevitam.
Meaning / Translation
Agni guards the southeast, Yama the south, and the Rakshasas and Pisachas are in the southwest, served by Vayu.

वायव्यं वायुदेवस्य, नैऋतीं शम्बरासुरम् । उत्तरस्यांश्च रुद्रस्य, ब्रह्मणस्तु ब्रह्मणः ।
Transliteration
Vaayavyam Vaayudevasya, Nairrteem Shambarasuram. Uttarasyaamcha Rudrasya, Brahmanastu Brahmanah.
Meaning / Translation
The northwest is guarded by Vayu, the southwest by Shambara, the north by Rudra, and the northeast by Brahma.

वास्तुपुरुषमाश्रित्य, सर्वे देवा अमृतस्य । सर्वे वेदा अध्यात्मानं, सर्वे देवा अवन्तु माम् ।
Transliteration
Vaastupurushamaashritya, sarve devaa amrutasaya. Sarve vedaadhyatmaanam, sarve devaavantu maam.
Meaning / Translation
Taking refuge in Vaastu Purusha, all the gods of immortality, all the Vedas and spiritual knowledge, and all the gods protect me.
