Verse 1

Original

सरस्वती नमस्तुभ्यं वरदे कामरूपिणि । विद्यारंभं करिष्यामि सिद्धिर्भवतु मे सदा ॥

Transliteration

Saraswati namastubhyam varade kamrupini . Vidhyarambhham karishyami siddhirbhavatu me sadaa

Meaning / Translation

O Goddess Saraswati, I bow to you, the granter of boons and the one who fulfills desires. I am about to begin my education, may I always be successful.

Verse 2

ज्ञानं विज्ञानं दधातु माम् सरस्वती भागवती । निरन्तरं निर्मलस्तुतिर्भवतु मे जिह्वाग्रे ॥

Transliteration

Gyanam vignyanaM dadhatu mam saraswati bhagawati . Nirantramm nirmla stutir bhavatu me jihwaagre

Meaning / Translation

May Goddess Saraswati, the divine and pure one, grant me knowledge and wisdom. May my tongue always be engaged in her pure and continuous praise.

Verse 3

सरस्वती माहभाग्यै विद्येषु वश्य ते सरस्वती । या कुंथितेन पटेन पाथेयम् देहि मे स्वहस्ते ॥

Transliteration

Saraswati mahabhagye vidyeshu vashya te saraswati . Ya kundhitena pTena paathehyam dehi me swahaste

Meaning / Translation

O Saraswati, you are the embodiment of great fortune and the ruler of all knowledge. Please grant me a bundle of knowledge with your own hands, wrapped in a cloth.

Verse 4

Original

मम जिह्वाग्रे सरस्वती वाग्देवी विभेदयेत् । सरस्वती नमस्तुभ्यं वरदे कामरूपिणि ॥

Transliteration

Mam jihwaagre saraswati waagdewi vibhedayet . Saraswati namastubhyam varade kamrupini

Meaning / Translation

May Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of speech, reside on the tip of my tongue and may she distinguish (or clarify) all my words. O Goddess Saraswati, I bow to you, the granter of boons and the one who fulfills desires.
