How to Recite
- 1Begin with the opening prayers: Kavacham, Argala Stotram, Keelakam, and the three Rahasya mantras (Navarna, etc.).

- 3Proceed with the thirteen chapters in order: Chapter 1 (Mahakali carita), Chapters 2–4 (Mahalakshmi carita), Chapters 5–13 (Mahasaraswati carita).

- 5After each chapter, offer pushpanjali (flowers) with the chapter's phala shruti.

Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche
Meaning: Salutations to the Goddess Chamunda, who is the embodiment of the three shaktis: Aim (Saraswati, knowledge), Hreem (Mahalakshmi, abundance), Kleem (Mahakali, transformation). This is the seed mantra of the Devi Mahatmya.
Opening Verse (Prathama Shloka)
सर्वस्वरूपे सर्वेशे सर्वशक्ति-समन्विते । भयेभ्यस्त्राहि नो देवि दुर्गे देवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
Sarva-svarupe sarveshe sarva-shakti-samanvite | Bhayebhyas trahi no devi durge devi namo'stu te ||
Meaning: O Goddess who is the form of all, ruler of all, endowed with all powers! Protect us from all fears. O Durga, O Devi, salutations to You.

जयन्ती मङ्गला काली भद्रकाली कपालिनी । दुर्गा क्षमा शिवा धात्री स्वाहा स्वधा नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
Jayanti mangala kali bhadrakali kapalini | Durga kshama shiva dhatri svaha svadha namo'stu te ||
Meaning: Victorious, auspicious, Kali, Bhadrakali, wearer of skulls; Durga, forbearance, Shiva, sustainer, Svaha, Svadha — salutations to You.

अहं राष्ट्री संगमनी वसूनां चिकितुषी प्रथमं यज्ञियानाम् । तां मा देवा व्यदधुः पुरुतासु स्थात्रम् भूर्यावेशयन्तीम् इमाम् ॥
Aham rashtri sangamani vasunam chikitushi prathamam yajniyanam | Tam ma deva vyadadhuh purutasu sthatram bhuryaveshayanti imam ||
Meaning: I am the Queen, the gatherer of treasures, the first among those worthy of sacrifice. The gods placed me in many places, making me enter and abide in many forms.
Siddha Kunjika Stotra (First Verse)
शिवः शक्त्या युक्तो यदि भवति शक्तः प्रभवितुं न चेदेव देवो न खलु कुशलः स्पन्दितुम् । अतस्त्वां आराधयन्तु हरि-हर-विरिञ्चादिभिः प्रणतं मिथ्यैव चिन्तयन्ति शिरो नमस्कृतिम् ॥
Shivah shaktya yukto yadi bhavati shaktah prabhavitum na chedevo devo na khalu kushalah spanditum | Atastvam aradhayantu hari-hara-virinchadibhih pranatam mithyaiva chintayanti shiro namaskritim ||
Meaning: Shiva, united with Shakti, becomes capable of creation; otherwise He cannot even stir. Therefore, Hari, Hara, Virinchi, and others worship You — yet fools merely bow their heads in empty ritual.
