Meaning: We meditate on the Fish-formed One, the Greatly Powerful; may Lord Vishnu inspire and illumine our intellect.
Matsya Purana Mangalacharana
नारायणं नमस्कृत्य नरं चैव नरोत्तमम्। देवीं सरस्वतीं चैव ततो जयमुदीरयेत्॥
Narayanam namaskritya naram caiva narottamam. Deviṃ Sarasvatim caiva tato jayamudirayet.
Meaning: Having bowed to Narayana, to Nara the best of men, and to Goddess Saraswati, one should then proclaim victory (begin the recitation).
Matsya Stuti from Matsya Purana (Chapter 2)
मत्स्यं कूर्मं वराहं च नृसिंहं वामनं तथा। रामं रामं च रामं च कृष्णं बुद्धं कल्किं च ते॥ दशावतारं प्रोक्तं येन केनचिदर्पितम्। यः पठेच्छृणुयाद् भक्त्या स याति परमं पदम्॥
Matsyam kurmam varaham ca narasimham vamanam tatha. Ramam ramam ca ramam ca krsnam buddham kalkim ca te. Dasavataram proktam yena kenacidarpitam. Yah pathec chrunuyad bhaktya sa yati paramam padam.
Meaning: Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Rama (Parashurama), Rama (Ramachandra), Rama (Balarama), Krishna, Buddha, Kalki — these ten avatars are declared. Whoever recites or hears them with devotion attains the supreme abode.
Pralaya Rakshana Mantra (Protection from Deluge)
ॐ नमो भगवते मत्स्यरूपाय प्रलयार्णवतारकाय सर्ववेदरक्षकाय स्वाहा
Om namo bhagavate matsyarupaya pralayarnavatarakaya sarvavedarakshakaya svaha
Meaning: Salutations to the Lord in Fish form, who ferries across the ocean of dissolution and protects all the Vedas.
