मङ्गल्यं तन्तुनानेन मम जीवन हेतुना । कण्ठे बध्नामि सुभगे त्वां जीवे शरदः शतम् ॥
Transliteration
Maṅgalyaṁ tantunānena mama jīvana hetunā । Kaṇṭhe badhnāmi subhage tvāṁ jīve śaradaḥ śatam ॥
Meaning / Translation
I tie this sacred thread (mangalsutra) around your neck, O beautiful one, which is the cause of my life and well-being. May you live for a hundred autumns (years) in health and happiness.

Transliteration
Gaurī Gaurī Maheśāni Gaurī Śivapriyā sadā । Maṅgalyaṁ me dadātu te nityaṁ sumaṅgalirbhava ॥
Meaning / Translation
O Gauri, O Great Goddess (Maheshwari), O beloved of Shiva, ever auspicious one. May you grant me eternal auspiciousness (through this mangalsutra). May you forever remain the embodiment of supreme good fortune (Sumangali).

Transliteration
Sakhā saptapadā bhava । Sakhyam te gamyam । Sakhyam te mayoṣam । Sakhyam te mayojaśca ॥
Meaning / Translation
Become my companion who has taken seven steps (saptapadi) with me. Let our friendship be attainable. Let our friendship be for enjoyment. Let our friendship be for strength and prosperity.

Yathaiva sā gṛhe gṛhṇāti Lakṣmīr Viṣṇoḥ priyā sadā । Tathaiva tvaṁ gṛhe gṛhṇāsi maṅgalyaṁ dhārayanti naḥ ॥
Meaning / Translation
Just as Goddess Lakshmi, the eternal beloved of Vishnu, enters and presides over the home, so do you, O bride, enter this home wearing the mangalsutra, bringing auspiciousness and prosperity to us all.

Meaning / Translation
