Why the Govardhan Puja muhurat matters
The puja is performed in the morning (Pratahkal) or the afternoon depending on tradition. The day's Abhijit Muhurat and the auspicious Choghadiya periods, shown below, are used to time the Annakut offering.
Do's
- Prepare the Annakut (a spread of many vegetarian dishes) and offer it to Krishna.
- Perform the puja within the Abhijit Muhurat or a good Choghadiya window shown below.
- Honour cows and, where observed, offer worship to Govardhan Parvat.
Don'ts
- Avoid the Rahu Kaal / Gulika / Yamaghanda windows for the main offering.
- Don't cook the Annakut with onion or garlic; it is a sattvic offering.
