ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय नमः गरुडाय नमः सूताय नमः व्यासाय नमः शुकदेवाय नमः
Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya namah garudaya namah sutaya namah vyasaya namah shukadevaya namah
Meaning: Salutations to Lord Vasudeva (Vishnu), to Garuda, to Suta (the narrator), to Vyasa (the compiler), and to Shukadeva (the supreme listener).
ॐ प्रेतात्मने नमः। यमराजाय नमः। चित्रगुप्ताय नमः। यमदूतेभ्यो नमः। पितृभ्यो नमः।
Om pretatmane namah. Yamarajaya namah. Chitraguptaya namah. Yamadutebhyo namah. Pitribhyo namah.
Meaning: Salutations to the departed soul, to Yama Raja (Lord of Death), to Chitragupta (the recorder of deeds), to the messengers of Yama, and to the ancestors.
ॐ अद्य श्राद्धकाले अस्मिन् पिण्डदानं करिष्ये। पितॄणां तृप्तयर्थं पिण्डं ददामि। तृप्यन्तु मे पितरः। स्वधा नमः।
Om adya shraddhakale asmin pindadanam karishye. Pitrinam triptayartham pindam dadami. Tripyantu me pitarah. Svadha namah.
Meaning: Today, at the time of shraddha, I perform pinda dana. For the satisfaction of the ancestors, I offer this pinda. May my ancestors be satisfied. Salutations to Svadha (the oblations offered to ancestors).
ॐ तत्सत्। अस्मै पितृभ्यः तर्पयामि। यत् किञ्चित् पापं कृतं मया जन्मान्तरकृतं च तत् सर्वं क्षमस्व प्रभो। तृप्यन्तु पितरः स्वधा नमः।
Om tat sat. Asmai pitribhyah tarpayami. Yat kinchit papam kritam maya janmantarakritam cha tat sarvam kshamasva prabho. Tripyantu pitarah svadha namah.
Meaning: Om, that is the Truth. To these ancestors I offer tarpana. Whatever sins I have committed in this life or past lives, O Lord, please forgive them all. May the ancestors be satisfied. Salutations to Svadha.
ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे सुवर्णपक्षाय धीमहि तन्नो गरुडः प्रचोदयात्।
Om tatpurushaya vidmahe suvarnapakshaya dhimahi tanno garudah prachodayat.
Meaning: We meditate on the Supreme Being (Tatpurusha) who has golden wings (Garuda). May that Garuda inspire and guide our intellect.
ॐ यमाय नमः। धर्मराजाय नमः। कालाय नमः। अन्तकाय नमः। वैवस्वताय नमः।
Om yamaya namah. Dharmarajaya namah. Kalaya namah. Antakaya namah. Vaivasvataya namah.
Meaning: Salutations to Yama, to the King of Dharma, to Time (Kala), to the End-Maker (Antaka), and to Vaivasvata (son of Vivasvan, the Sun).
