ॐ विष्णुर्विष्णुर्विष्णुः । अद्य माघमासे कृष्णपक्षे अमावस्यायां मौनव्रतं विष्णुप्रीत्यर्थं करिष्ये । मौनं धारयिष्ये, विष्णुस्मरणं करिष्ये, दानं दास्यामि, स्नानं करिष्ये । श्रीविष्णुप्रसादनं भवतु ।
Transliteration
Om Vishnur Vishnur Vishnuh. Adya Maghamase Krishna-pakshe Amavasyayam Mauna-vratam Vishnu-prityartham karishye. Maunam dharayishye, Vishnu-smaranam karishye, danam dasyami, snanam karishye. Shri-Vishnu-prasadanam bhavatu.
Meaning / Translation
Om, Vishnu, Vishnu, Vishnu. Today, on the Amavasya (new moon) of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase) in the month of Magha, I undertake the Mauna Vrat (vow of silence) for the pleasure of Lord Vishnu. I shall observe silence, remember Vishnu, perform charity, and take holy bath. May this be pleasing to Lord Vishnu.

Transliteration

Om, Victory to the Lord of the Universe, Hari. O Lord, You remove the troubles of devotees in an instant. Whoever meditates on You attains the fruit; the mind's sorrow vanishes. Happiness and wealth come home; bodily suffering ends. You are my Mother and Father; whose refuge else shall I seek? Without You there is no other; I place my hope in You. You are the Complete Supreme Soul, the Inner Controller. You are the Supreme Brahman, Lord of all. You are the ocean of compassion, the Sustainer. I am a fool, wicked, and lustful; have mercy, O Master. You are the One Unseen, the Lord of all life. How shall I, of wicked intellect, meet You, O Merciful One?
