Step-by-Step Vidhi

1. 1Enter the historic temple complex through the Sardar Nimbalkar Mahadwar or Shahaji Raje entrance gate.
2. 2Offer respects at the Kallol Tirth and Gomukh Tirth water bodies, sprinkling holy water over your head for purification.
3. 3Proceed through the general queue (Dharma Darshan) or pass queue towards the inner sanctum (Gabhara).
4. 4Upon reaching the sanctum, behold the magnificent Ashtabhuja (eight-armed) idol of Goddess Bhavani mounted on her throne.
5. 5Hand over your Oti offerings (Saree, Khan, Coconut, Flowers) to the designated priest (Pujari/Gurav), who will touch them to the Goddess's feet and return a portion as prasad.
6. 6If attending an Abhisheka pooja, sit in the designated Abhisheka hall during morning hours as priests chant Vedic Suktams and pour Panchamrut.
7. 7Receive sacred Kumkum and Angara (holy ash) on your forehead from the priest.
8. 8Perform clockwise circumambulation (Parikrama) around the main shrine, visiting sub-shrines of Matangi Devi, Lord Shiva, and Siddhi Vinayak.
9. 9Sit quietly in the outer stone courtyard (Sabhagriha) for a few minutes to absorb the spiritual vibrations.
10. 10Collect sanctified prasad (dry fruits, sugar candy, or coconut) from the temple trust counters before exiting.

Mantras

Do's

• ✓Do wear decent, traditional Indian clothing covering shoulders and knees.
• ✓Do carry sufficient cash for small offerings, as mobile networks near the inner sanctum may be slow.
• ✓Do pre-book VIP darshan or Abhisheka tickets online on the official temple trust portal during festivals.
• ✓Do apply the sanctified Kumkum or Bhandara respectfully on your forehead.

Don'ts

• ✗Do not carry leather items (belts, wallets, bags, shoes) inside the sanctum area.
• ✗Do not attempt to photograph or record video inside the inner Gabhara (sanctum sanctorum).
• ✗Do not touch the idol or altar direct unless explicitly permitted by officiating priests during ritual times.
• ✗Do not push, crowd, or rush fellow devotees in the queue.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• •Traveling for main murti darshan during the Goddess's ceremonial sleep (Nidra) period, during which only her throne or symbolic feet (Paduka) are accessible.
• •Assuming all family traditions (Kulachara) are identical; every community may have specific ways to offer Oti or perform Gondhal.
• •Arriving during peak Navratri or Purnima days without advance accommodation or online booking, resulting in extremely long queue wait times.

Regional Variations

• •Maharashtrian Tradition: Focuses on Oti Bharana with a green Khan-Sari, presenting Bhandara (turmeric), and organizing a Gondhal folk ritual with Sambhal and Tuntuna musical instruments.
• •Karnataka / South Indian Tradition: Devotees refer to the deity as Tulja Bhavani Amma, offering Udho-Udho prayers, silk sarees, and performing Sahasranama Archana.
• •Gujarati / Rajasthani Tradition: Devotees visit during Navratri to offer red Chunri, silver ornaments, and perform Garba hymns in her praise.
