Do's
- ✓Learn exclusively from qualified guru in parampara; never self-study from books alone
- ✓Preserve exact svara (intonation) — it carries the mantra's power
- ✓Perform nitya karma (daily duties) before Vedic recitation
- ✓Treat Vedic texts with reverence: never place on floor, touch with unclean hands
- ✓Teach only qualified, initiated students after guru's permission
- ✓Support Vedic pathashalas and yajnas through dana (charity)
Don'ts
- ✗Do not recite Vedic mantras in impure state (ashaucha) or without upanayana
- ✗Do not alter svaras, meters, or word order — it nullifies efficacy
- ✗Do not teach Vedas to uninitiated, women (in traditional view), or those outside varna system per orthodox rules
- ✗Do not use Vedic mantras for magical/low purposes (abhichara)
- ✗Do not recite during eclipse (grahana) without proper niyamas
- ✗Do not interrupt svadhyaya for trivial conversations
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- •Confusing Shukla and Krishna Yajurveda mantras in ritual context
- •Neglecting pada-patha/krama-patha practice leading to textual corruption
- •Reciting without understanding meaning (artha) and intent (bhava)
- •Performing yajnas without qualified adhvaryu and full priestly team
- •Using printed books for ritual recitation instead of memorized tradition
- •Ignoring the requirement of guru-mukha (oral transmission) for authenticity
