परिचय

Built by the Birla Foundation and consecrated in 1976, the Birla Mandir of Hyderabad is carved entirely from white Rajasthani marble and rises on Naubath Pahad (Kala Pahad) hill beside Hussain Sagar lake. The presiding deity is Lord Venkateswara (Balaji), with shrines to Padmavati, Andal, Shiva, Ganesha, Saraswati and others distributed across the terraced complex. Its blend of Dravidian, Rajasthani and Utkala architectural motifs, its brass-inscribed panels of scriptural teachings, and its panoramic hilltop position make it one of Hyderabad's most visited landmarks, especially beautiful when illuminated at night.
