Yadadri is one of the most important Narasimha shrines in Telangana, revered as a place where the fierce protector avatar of Vishnu grants refuge and destroys evil. The worship of the five forms of Narasimha offers devotees the full spectrum of the deity's grace and power. Its grand renovation has re-established it as a major centre of Vaishnava pilgrimage. Narasimha Jayanti and Brahmotsavam are celebrated with great splendour.
Set atop the Yadagiri hills, this ancient temple was extensively reconstructed and expanded in recent years at enormous cost, transforming it into a grand pilgrimage centre built in the traditional Kakatiya and Dravidian styles with black granite. The sanctum, within a natural cave, enshrines five forms (Pancha Narasimha) of Lord Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Vishnu. The gleaming new gopurams, mandapas and sculpted walls have made Yadadri one of the most impressive temples of South India. Legend holds that the sage Yadarishi worshipped Narasimha here, giving the hill its name.
