Jeen Mata is venerated as a powerful protective mother goddess and the kuldevi of numerous clans across Rajasthan and beyond. Its great antiquity and unbroken worship make it one of the most historically significant Devi shrines of Shekhawati. The Navratri fairs are occasions of immense devotion and communal gathering. Legends of the goddess's miracles have sustained her worship for centuries.
The Jeen Mata temple, set in a rugged valley near Sikar, honours Jeen Mata, revered as a form of Durga, and is among the most ancient continuously worshipped shrines in the region. Its stone architecture reflects Rajput-era craftsmanship, with carved panels depicting scenes from mythology, and a sacred hilltop associated with the goddess's brother Harsh Bhairav overlooks the site. Twice a year, during the Chaitra and Ashwin Navratri, huge fairs (melas) fill the town with pilgrims who walk long distances to seek the goddess's blessings. The temple is especially revered by many Rajasthani communities as a kuldevi (family goddess).
