महत्व

Its setting in Vrindavan links the worship of the Divine Mother to the lila of Krishna, making it a doubly sacred site in the Braj pilgrimage. The Bhairava associated with the Peetha is Bhutesh.

परिचय

The Katyayani temple, also known as the Uma Shakti Peeth, stands amid the sacred groves of Vrindavan on the banks of the Yamuna. The goddess is worshipped as Maa Katyayani, richly adorned, revered as the very Devi to whom the gopis of Braj offered the Katyayani vrat, praying to win Krishna as their beloved. The shrine unites the Shakta and Vaishnava streams that both flow so strongly through the land of Braj, and it is especially vibrant during Navratri.
