Ujaani marks where the right wrist of Sati fell; the Shakti is Mangal Chandika and the Bhairava is Kapilambar. The goddess Mangal Chandika is especially associated with blessings of good fortune and the removal of obstacles. It is one of the Shakti Peethas of the Bardhaman region.
The Ujaani (Ujani) Shakti Peetha, near Guskara in Purba Bardhaman district, honours the goddess Mangal Chandika, a benevolent form of the Divine Mother invoked for auspiciousness and wellbeing. The shrine is part of Bengal's rich network of Shakti Peethas and draws devotees seeking the mother's protective grace. As with the other Peethas of the region, worship intensifies during Navratri and Durga Puja.
